Learning by doing (Summer Internships)

To bridge the gap between the industry, academia and the student community, this summer, we offered our current year 11 students the opportunity to train on the job.

4 students from our current year 11 grabbed the opportunity. 2 of them, Arwa Shakir and Arwa Ismail, trained at Turner International Dubai, courtesy Shk Hakim Abid Gadiwala, and the other 2, Fatema Shoket and Taher Kapadia trained at The Standard Group of Companies Dubai, courtesy Shk Hussein Rasheed.

During the internship our students was given an extensive tour of the facility as well as an in-depth history of the companies. They were treated like real employees and completed tasks that gave them insight into what a career in the secondary business entails. They also completed daily tasks on the Finance side, and spent some time job shadowing employees in the Sales and Customer Service Departments.

One of our students commented “I only wish I could have spent longer than 1 week interning…. I will surely keep in contact with the great individuals there and would love to work there after I graduate. It was a very rewarding experience that I will remember for years to come in my career”.
