April 29^th, 2010 dawned on the first graduation ever at MSB. The teachers and the students of year 10 organized a special programme to make it a memorable occasion for the graduands.

The opening scene was one from the future -2040 to be precise- and 45 year old, Hatim Asgarali recollects his own graduation and remembers that “everything was so purple!” Flashback to the present. With all the formalities taken care of, the programme continued. There were moving speeches by Ummehani and Hatim, words of praise and encouragement by Principal Mrs. Martin, Masool Shk Yusuf Bhai Yamani and Chief guest, Tasneem Ben Harazi, former principal, MSB. The show up of the afternoon was the skit “The Apple” presented by Year 10 in honour of the graduands, highlighting the need for each one to perceive things as they are and often what is simple and easy to understand is misunderstood by most. So the moral was to take things at face value and enjoy the simple joys of life and to consider the views of other people as well!

The surprise event was the Mr. /Ms. MSB competition exclusively for the graduands. In the first round, each contestant was given the name of one common household item and were asked to give as many alternative uses. The five semi finalists of Round 1 were asked to describe themselves in one line in Round 2 short-listing 3 contestants for the next round. In the third and final round, “Shipwreck”, the contestants were given a famous personality and they were asked to convince the judges why they being an important part of the world deserved the ONLY life jacket on the ship. After these 3 exciting rounds, Tasneem Jamaly won the coveted award.

The programme ended with cake cutting ceremony. The graduands, their parents and staff shared a sumptuous lunch. All in all, the graduation was a great success!!!
