History Week 2009 was a fantastic success. The staff and students were able to join the many Historians who travelled back in time, discovering the wide and wonderful past.
The Themes for the History Week revolved around 'Communication', 'Ancient Egypt',
'The Medieval Period' and 'UAE'.
Year 9 students researched the famous 'Explorers' of the past - Captain James Cook, Captain Christopher Columbus, and Ibn Batuta were the top favourties. The students treated all visitors to a guided tour of the famous explorers.
- Year 8 students donned on their medieval costumes and displayed a cross-section of the Medieval Souq, right in their class room. The simple, yet relevant attire, complete with the medieval etiquette and fashion, was interesting and fascinating to watch.
- Year 7 students got us to enjoy a taste of the Medieval Cuisine, through their lavish banquet.
- Students of Years 9, 10 and 11 gained a fascinating insight into the Economy of Dubai, and the role of Dubai in the economy of UAE and the Middle East, with an informative lecture by Mr. Hakimuddin Gadiwala, guest lecturer and parent and much, much more!
- Year 6 students studied the rich historic past of the Aztecs and were superb at the Quiz!
- Year 5 students visited the Post Office to inculcate a passion for the art of letter writing. They posted letters to their friends in class. Catch the excitement in the pictures.
- Year 4 students were in awe to review the development of Dubai and its historic importance in the UAE. Their presentation was both informative and entertaining.
- Dubai is home!
- Students of Year 3, explored the oldest pyramids in Ancient Egypt, a digital walk through the pyramids was exciting! The intricate models and informative booklets created demonstrated the students’ understanding and appreciation of Ancient Egypt.
- Students of Years 1 dressed up in the National Costumes of the UAE, while students of Year 2 celebrated the 'Dates Festival'.
