It was a pleasure to have Mr. Hakimuddin Gadiwala, Financial Controller, Turner International Company, Dubai, with us on the 7th of December 2010. Mr. Hakimuddin spoke to the students of years 9, 10 and 11, on the different factors which contributed to the rapid growth in the economy of Dubai, especially, in the last 30 years.
The ‘discovery of oil’ in 1966, the most important factor, was discussed in detail, with comparisons and contrasts with the years before and after. Our doubts were cleared and many questions were finally answered and it certainly increased our respect and fascination for the Emirate of Dubai and its visionary rulers.
Mr. Gadiwala ended the presentation by suggesting ways in which we students could contribute to the economy of Dubai. One of them, was by cleaning up our surroundings and use the natural resources effectively. The girls were thrilled to know, that spending money is a good way too. Mr. Gadiwala also made us aware of the 2015 strategy that Shaikh Mohammad has planned for the welfare of Dubai.
The seminar was enriching and has familiarized us with the rapidly changing economy of Dubai.
