ALOHA stands for Advanced Learning of Higher Arithmetic. It was founded by Mr Loh Mun Sung in 1993. He adapted and developed the method from China and Taiwan for the purpose of introducing it to the children of Malaysia. Today, ALOHA has over 200 centres throughout Malaysia as well as other countries such as Thailand, Philippines, China, Australia, New Zealand, Oman and UAE.
Aloha Mental Arithmetic is accredited by the Malaysia Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association and the Abacus Association of Zhenjiang Province, China.
Syllabus and Duration of the Program:
Training is conducted in eight levels:
Level 1: The fingering method of addition and subtraction
Level 2: The abacus method of addition and subtraction
Level 3: The mental arithmetic of addition, subtraction and multiplication
Level 4: The division method of calculation
Level 5 – level 8: The visualization of the four basic functions of arithmetic
The duration of each level is three months. At the end of each level, an examination will be conducted to test the students’ competence and progress to the next level.
ALOHA classes are held in the school premises, every Monday and Thursday, for 1 hour, between 2:45 pm and 3:45 pm. for the students of Al Ameen School.
