"Clean up the World 2008" is an international campaign launched by the United Nations Environment Programme. It is one of the worlds largest clean up drives which attracts more than 40 million volunteers from over 120 countries every year in an attempt to increase public awareness and initiate practices for keeping a safe and healthy environment. For the past 15 years, in Dubai, it is launched in collaboration with the Dubai Municipality.

Our school along with the other schools was also invited to particiopate in the clean up drive. We were also asked to participate in "Can Donation Contest" to increase awareness amongst students. Our school already with a team of Environmental Ambassadors was geared up for an event like this. Mrs Martin introduced the idea to the students and within a week we were running short of space to store the Cans for the campaign day. On 20th of November 2008 our team of Environmental Ambassadors from grade 4 onwards, along with the highest Can Donators from each grade, boarded the bus with 16 bags full of Cans (5752 Cans).

We reached the Ras Al Khor Bird Sanctuary for the clean up. After two hours of claen up when the competition began all schools eagerly awaited the results. Our school bagged the second place in the Donation campaign. We got rewarded for the enthusiasm displayed by our students, who now are eagerly awaiting the next campaign to bag the coveted first place.
